Cooperation
A society grows great when old men plant trees whose shade they know they shall never sit in."
-Greek Proverb
What it is that connects us is far greater than anything that separates us. What gets me, though, is the degree to which we spend energy actively separating ourselves. Somewhere along the line we collectively made a choice that competition had more value than cooperation.
The culture of competition means that someone has to lose to lose for others to feel successful. A culture of cooperation would allow us all to be successful, and to help others achieve success as well.
I believe that there is an infinite Universe. Being infinite there is no end to what it provides for all of us. If we feel limited, it is because we have knowingly or unknowingly allowed ourselves to feel that way. We bought it to the feelings of limitation and so we experience it.
To cooperate means we recognize that in an unlimited Universe there is enough for all of us. We needn't fear loss, because there can be no loss.
Let's make choices today that unite us rather than divide us.
Plant the tree because it is rooted in the consciousness of giving. You may not benefit directly from the shade of the tree, but you will benefit in life. That is how the creative nature of love works. Everyone wins.
