Clap along...
“Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof.
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth.
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you.
Clap along if you feel like that’s what you wanna do.”-Pharrell Williams
Based on a recent discussion I’ve had, I want to pose a question:
What is happy?
We know when we feel happy, right?
We know when we feel unhappy.
But what IS happy?
And don’t just rely on a dictionary definition. What is happy to you?
When I was posed with the same question, my initial response was, “at ease, free of concern,” and as I’ve ruminated on it that doesn’t seem to go deep enough.
I’ve believed for many years now that happiness is not a choice, it is our natural state of being. Experiencing unhappiness is a choice. Our natural state of being is to be in alignment with the infinite flow… so happy is a flow, it is freedom of choice. Happy is a consciousness.
We don’t derive happiness from the things in our lives (although we are taught that we do). We can’t create happiness… but we can align with it.
Happiness is the unencumbered flow of creative energy. Only when we block it do we feel unhappy. And boy have we ever learned how to block it, haven’t we?
Opening up to our natural state of happiness releases the floodgates of new ideas. From this flows the EXPERIENCE of happiness.
So, “clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth.”
