Unlimit Yourself!

TODAY’S READING
37.2-39.6

There is an approach that many have early on in the study of the Science of Mind. It was my M.O. when I came into the philosophy and it was rooted in a mentality of lack and limitation. I came to this philosophy with the idea in my mind that I could get what I want by embodying the principles taught by this book.

This idea was supported by a lot of the book—even if I was missing the point. We hear what we hear when we need to hear it, and we take it in when we are ready for it. No matter how many times I heard otherwise, I was stuck in the place of “getting” early on. To get, however, I have to BE. That’s a heady concept. How do we get to the point of just “being” in a place of infinite trust? Well, for now just keep at it and let it work through you in your time.

There was a line in particular that frustrated me in the idea that I was here to “get something” from the philosophy. Ernest Holmes wrote, “…our belief sets the limit to our demonstration of a Principle which, if Itself, is without limit.” Well there it is! If I believe “hard” enough I can have whatever I want!! So exciting!! What I would continually miss until I was ready to make the connection was the end of that paragraph, “It is entirely a question of our own receptivity.”

What I have learned is that it is not about believing “really hard” in a coercive way (as though we are going to trick the Universe into giving us something), it is about our receptivity.

So to receive what I want, I have to be receptive to the Infinite flow that is inherently who I am to begin with.

I am currently sitting at LAX awaiting a flight to go to Kaua’i for my annual retreat experience. When I first started in the study of this philosophy I would have not thought that this annual experience was something I could easily have—I didn’t believe it. I wasn’t receptive to allowing it to happen. So it didn’t. I have come to know that in my state of receptivity, and relaxation into the flow I easily set up my mind to be open to the infinite possibilities… and even when I slip up and think, “oh, I don’t know how I will make this happen,” I step back and remind myself there is nothing for me to make happen. I merely need to be receptive to the flow through me and it happens.

So what I require is done unto me as I believe.

I guess Jesus had it right.
