I'm Alive!

Don’t ask so much what the world needs. Go out and do what makes you come alive, because what the world needs most are people who have come alive.
— Howard Thurman

I love to experience life. Life is meant to be lived deeply, freely, and fully. For a long time, though, I thought I had to “be something to the world” in order for my life to have value and meaning. I was mistaken in my idea that how I was perceived by others was the measure by which my value should be based. That paradigm kept my experience of life at bay — because, if what I wanted to experience didn’t fit within the paradigm, I would disregard it, avoid it, and do “what was right.”

That made life pretty blah.

It made me a pretty blah person.

Who wants that?

I have come to know that no one wants that!!

We think that’s what people want, yet when I truly consider the options I find myself more excited to have self-reliant people in my life than to have sycophants who are only trying to please others.

So what do you need? What do you want? What makes you come alive?
