The Greatest Love
/In a seemingly cynical society it seems trite to say it these days, but it is a fundamental truth. Loving yourself is the greatest love of all.
I grew up a child of the nineteen seventies and a teen of the nineteen eighties. The recording of "The Greatest Love of All" by Whitney Houston got a lot of air play during my teen years (I was twelve when it was released). It struck a chord with me, even though I didn’t really give much thought to what the lyric of the song was saying, and yet to this day I know every word in that song without a second thought.
How many of us are really living up to the standard of true self-love? Is there any way we are undercutting our self-love? Why do we do that? More important than understanding why — can we let go of anything that keeps us from self-love and delve deeply into the truth of love?
Loving yourself must become a habit, not just lovely lyrics in a song.
Love is creation. Love is infinite. Love is “givingness.”
When we give of ourselves, to ourselves, we lift ourselves, and have so much to offer the world.
It is up to us to love ourselves unconditionally.
I see only love.
I hear only love.
I feel only love.
I express only love.
And every moment I freely live in love.
I am love.*
*and so are you!
Let's go forth and live life accordingly.
